This boy was photographed by me at Moscow subway. I think he’s fairhaired angel. So beautiful. I was sitting in front of him.

It’s very hard for me to photograph people in metro. Because I’m afraid of that they will notice that I want to have their image in my camera. +)
People in Russia don’t like to be photographed by unknown man. It’s a pity.

This was Ardoch, one of the biggest clachans on Gairnside, whose fourteen fire-houses (houses with chimneys) lay on the lower slopes of Mammie Hill, looking down to where the River Gairn sweeps towards the River Dee.” The Land of the Lost by Robert Smith.
The folk of Ardoch belonged to a self contained community and they seemed to be happy with their lot. That is until the early years of the 19th century when Roman Catholics were evicted in favour of Protestants and sheep.
It is in front of this houes, Ardoch, that the remains of the old community of Ardoch or Ardachie can be seen.
Why this house was abandoned, I'm not sure. It was probably less to do with religious persecution and more to do with economic downturns, change of land use from crofting/farming to sheep, deer and grouse enterprises, as well as technological and chemical advances in farming.

WEEKEND SHOWCASE

The coastline around Napoli is fantastic. I'd spent the day driving around (well, being driven around, thanks Sara) looking for the best place to capture the sunset. We eventually went back to a part we'd been to previously that day, after crisscrossing the city all afternoon. I'd taken a good hundred or so photos of the sunset and was walking back to the car when I turned around and saw this tree on the cliff silhouetted against the almost completely set sun. For some reason the scene reminds me of Africa, not Italy. Perhaps it's the shape of the tree? What do you think?

Believe it or not, I used to shave with this. When I first started growing whiskers, 30 or so years ago, I got it in my head that I needed a straight razor to get into the tight places, under my nose, etc. So I bought this, along with a shaving brush and mug, and went to work butchering my face. Actually, I got pretty good with it, but it didn't take long for the novelty to wear off, and I reverted to more modern methods. Yet, every now and then, I'll run a few passes over the razor strop and give it another try, just for old times sake and generally manage to keep my face pretty much in tact.

The topic for today's Our Daily Challenge is "Sharp," which is what gave me the incentive for this photo.

This gentleman cut across two lanes of moving traffic on his pushbike. Cursing and waving at the cars as they slowed and tooted!! ...what he didn't realise was that one of the cars was a police officer. Busted!!
